Function:

  1. Serve in a consultative role in the development of a Family Studies Minor aimed at:
    • Developing an understanding of the issues and problems confronting contemporary American families from the anthropological, historical, psychological, religious, and sociological perspectives.
    • Providing an interdisciplinary liberal arts base for those students who wish to pursue graduate study in the field of family studies.
    • Providing a knowledge of family studies that will foster the personal and social development of the individual student.
  2. Make recommendations concerning administration and coordination of the Family Studies Minor.
  3. Promote study and faculty interest in Family Studies.

Membership:

  1. Coordinator of Family Studies Minor/Sociology Representative.
  2. One Representative from History.
  3. One Representative with a Religious Studies emphasis.
  4. One Representative from Psychology.
  5. One Representative from Nursing.
  6. One Representative from Social Work.

Chair: Kathleen Nybroten – Designated by the Provost/Vice Chancellor.
Term: For membership categories 2-6, three years, rotating.
