Tom has been the Director of the Foster Gallery since 1997. As Director, he is responsible for all aspects of the gallery program, organizing eight art exhibitions per year. Budgeting, promotion, installation, and arranging artist receptions are just a few of the duties of a gallery director.
Tom also works closely with the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree candidates to develop their senior exhibitions, providing instruction in the methods of arrangement, installation, and lighting techniques.
The Foster Gallery Director maintains the University Permanent Art Collection, numbering approximately 800 major and minor works of art.
As the supervisor of the 3-D studios, Tom is instrumental in providing instruction in the safe operation of the department shops and assists students in the construction of their art projects, from painting stretchers to finish picture frames and sculptural objects.
