Employee Assistance Program

Purpose of the EAP

It is the purpose of EAP to promote the intellectual, psychological, and spiritual health of faculty, staff, and their families. Any difficulty, regardless of severity, that is interfering with one's personal effectiveness at work or home is appropriate to bring to this service.

Why the EAP?

The University of Eau Claire's largest investment and most valuable resource are its people, who change lives and empower others. The Employee Assistance Program's goal is to preserve and protect this valuable resource.

Most people handle difficulties in their lives well by themselves. Others have a lot of trouble, due to facing too much at one time or not having the experience to handle them. Counseling can decrease the amount of time it takes to recover, help lessen the amount of suffering, and help decrease the chances of matters getting worse or spreading. Plus, counseling teaches ways of coping with life's difficulties. Each of us would like to think that we can handle our difficulties on our own. However, after a period of time if things are not getting better in our personal lives, counseling may be an alternative.

Please take a few moments to read the information contained on this site. If you are in need of help, we urge you and your family to contact UW-Eau Claire Counseling Services.

How can the EAP help?

  • Counseling: Offers a confidential environment in which to discuss your concerns.
  • Assessment: A counselor will assist you in identifying difficulties and in setting priorities you want to discuss.
  • Referral: A counselor can provide you with information on various programs, agencies, and practitioners if you are unsure of where to find assistance.
  • Follow-up: A counselor will follow-up with you as needed.
  • Consultation: The EAP can confidentially assist supervisors, colleagues, and co-workers who may be concerned about another individual at work or at home.
  • Education/Training/Groups: The EAP offers programs on a variety of issues to departments upon request.

What about CONFIDENTIALITY

The foundation of the Employee Assistance Program is the confidentiality of its services.
