Important - The tools distributed on this page are neither developed nor supported by the UWEC LTS Help Desk. They are only suggested tools for cleaning computers. These tools must be used at your own risk.
Virus Removal Software

AVG Free:

Protects against viruses, spyware, adware and Trojans. Also protects in real time against poisoned web pages while you're surfing. AVG is a fairly unintrusive anti-virus progam and scans can be scheduled to take place when it is convenient for you.
Anti-Vir:

A comprehensive, easy to use antivirus program, designed to offer reliable free of charge virus protection to home-users only. Avira offers: Extensive Malware Recognition of viruses, Trojans, backdoor programs, and worms, virus protection, with Virus Guard real time monitoring, as well as other forms of protection for your computer.

FREE avast! antivirus Home Edition includes ANTI-SPYWARE protection, certified by the West Coast Labs Checkmark process, and ANTI-ROOTKIT detection. antivirus Home Edition is FREE to use but it is necessary to register before the end of the initial 60 day trial period. Following the registration you will receive by e-mail a license key valid for a period of 1 year.
**Keep in mind that if you are going to download one of these free programs you need to uninstall any current anti-virus you might have on your computer.**

Malware Bytes -

Malwarebytes is a site dedicated to fighting malware. Malwarebytes has developed a variety of tools that can identify and remove malicious software from your computer. When your computer becomes infected, Malwarebytes can provide the needed assistance to remove the infection and restore the machine back to optimum performance.
Lavasoft Ad-Aware -

Lavasoft Ad-Aware is an application for removing spyware and adware that has installed itself on your computer. This tool can be downloaded from the developer's website by clicking on the "Downloads" link on the left side of their homepage.
Safer Networking Spybot -

Spybot - Search & Destroy can detect and remove spyware of different kinds from your computer. This tool is similar to Ad-Aware in that it removes spyware from your computer, but it finds and removes different kinds. This tool can be downloaded from the developer's website.
