Faculty/Staff Proxy

Authorize another person to be able to check materials out of the library on your behalf.

Faculty and Academic Staff wishing to initiate a proxy authorization should fill out an authorization form (pdf) and turn it in at the circulation desk on the 1st floor. Once the authorization has been set up, an email will be sent indicating the authorization is available for use.

Faculty and Academic Staff currently employed at UW-Eau Claire may designate up to two people per semester to use the proxy service. This proxy authorization will permit faculty and academic staff to send a student assistant or the department program assistant to the library to pick up materials to be used by the faculty/academic staff member. In the past, to do this, the faculty or academic staff member had to give his/her personal Blugold card to the student runner or program assistant. Now the designated proxy will be able to use his/her personal Blugold card to do the checkout.

When the person with the proxy authorization arrives at the circulation desk in McIntyre Library, they will present their personal Blugold card and indicate they are checking the material out for a specific faculty/academic staff member. The proxy service allows the library staff person to check the materials out and the checkouts are then linked directly to the record of the individual faculty/academic staff member.

Proxy authorizations must be established well in advance of sending a proxy to pick up materials. Designated proxies may not use the authorization to checkout materials for their personal use. Indications of such abuse will result in the proxy authorization being cancelled.

Faculty/Academic staff may check to see what is currently checked out to them by using their own online Patron Account available through the Voyager Online catalog.

Faculty and academic staff are also personally responsible for any charges assessed to their account for materials lost or damaged while checked out under this proxy service.
