McIntyre Library extends hours, plans stress-reliever events for finals week

EAU CLAIRE — McIntyre Library at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire will offer extended hours and free stress relief activities for students during finals.

McIntyre Library will be open 24 hours the week before and of finals, beginning May 7.

The library will be open:

  • Monday, May 7, 7 a.m. to Friday, May 11, midnight.
  • Saturday, May 12, 7:30 a.m.-midnight.
  • Sunday, May 13, 7:30 a.m. to Friday, May 18, 7 p.m.

The library will be closed May 19-20.

McIntyre Library and Sodexo will provide free coffee to students studying in the library from 10 p.m. until 4 a.m. May 13-17.

On May 12, the library will host a game day in the library for gamers and non-gamers alike. Students and others are invited to play a game in the library's expanding board game collection.

McIntyre Library also will host a series of stress-relief events during finals week.

Monday, May 14:

  • 6-7:30 p.m.: McIntyre Library will host certified therapy dogs on the first floor that students can pet. The event is sponsored by McIntyre Library.
  • 6-8 p.m.: Stress relieving workstations will be on the first floor. Students can get free massages, make stress balls and visit a regression center with coloring pages. Fresh fruit, aromatherapy lotions and information on stress management also will be available. The event is sponsored by Student Health Services.
  • 11:30 p.m.-midnight: There will be a dance party in the library's second floor breezeway with music provided by DJ Element. After the dance party, free refreshments will give students extra energy for studying. This event is sponsored by the Dean of Students Office and McIntyre Library.

Tuesday, May 15:

  • 5-6:30 p.m.: Local leader dogs will be on the first floor for students to pet. This event is sponsored by McIntyre Library.
  • 5-7 p.m.: Stress relieving workstations will be on the first floor. Students can get free massages, make stress balls and visit a regression center with coloring pages. Fresh fruit, aromatherapy lotions and information on stress management also will be available. The event is sponsored by Student Health Services.
