Katelyn Goettl selected as 2012 College of Business Emerging LeaderMay 8, 2012
The Emerging Leader award is presented to a student who is not graduating in 2012 and who has shown early leadership and potential for success.
"Katelyn is a model student and true leader," said Matt Fish, lecturer in accounting. Fish was Goettl's accounting principles instructor.
"Her leadership skills extend beyond personality traits," Fish said. "Katelyn is an authentic leader with exceptional academic capabilities, a compassionate heart for the less fortunate and a proven ability to master challenges and adversity."
Goettl has been involved in the Student Accounting Society, the Math Club, the forensics team and a college political group. She has played in the University Symphony Orchestra, is the treasurer of the Honors Program Organization and goalie for the UW-Eau Claire Women's lacrosse team.
"My experience at UW-Eau Claire has truly taught me to 'emerge' as a 'leader,'" Goettl said.
Goettl also volunteers as a tutor in the Reading Partner Program and at the College of Business Center for Advising, Development and Enrichment. She has several part-time jobs and plans to sit for the CPA exam after she graduates.
"My dream job is to become a CPA just like my father," she said. "My dad has been a role model my entire life and I would be proud to follow in his footsteps."
Goettl was recognized by the UW-Eau Claire Alumni Association, Foundation and University Center's Office of Activities, Involvement and Leadership at the 2012 University Student Excellence Awards reception May 2.
