EAU CLAIRE — University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Continuing Education/UW-Extension will offer a program titled Behavioral Health for the Paraprofessional from 8:45 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Sept. 26 at The Florian Gardens in Eau Claire.
The program is designed for front-line staff in health care settings, medical assistants, appointment coordinators, licensed practical nurses, certified nursing assistants, billing department and business office staff, and others who deal with individuals with behavioral health problems.
Program topics will include identifying signs, symptoms and common behaviors of various psychiatric disorders; how to respond effectively; and county resources for individuals with psychiatric disorders. Program instructors will be Dr. William Weggel, a psychiatrist at Mayo Clinic Health System-Eau Claire; Karlene Phillips, a registered nurse and director of Inpatient Behavioral Health Services at Mayo Clinic Health System-Eau Claire; Dr. Mickey Crothers, a professor of psychology at UW-Eau Claire and clinical psychologist at Omne Clinic; and Jen Moe, a crisis coordinator for Eau Claire County.
The fee to attend is $59 per person and includes program materials and lunch.
