SrAmDayEAU CLAIRE — The 25nd annual Senior Americans Day will be held from 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m. March 19 in Davies Center at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.

Designed for adults 55 and better, this year's event theme is "Celebrating 25 Years of Being Positively Ageless." The goals of the event include dispelling the myths of aging; reinforcing positive aspects of aging; and providing information to help meet the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual needs of older adults.

This year's keynote speaker, Dr. Lucretia Mattson, UW-Eau Claire professor emeritus of accounting, will open the event with an address titled "Wow, What a Life!"

Participants can visit the exhibit halls and choose from more than 40 workshops on such topics as fitness, winemaking, health issues, estate planning, floral design, the outdoors and local history. Entertainment will be provided in the morning by ragtime pianist Jim Radloff, and on the main stage by the Sue Orfield Band.

The cost of the program is $35 per person and includes materials, continental breakfast and lunch. Several breakout sessions have additional fees for materials.

Senior Americans Day is sponsored by UW-Eau Claire Continuing Education/UW-Extension in cooperation with Grace Lutheran Foundation, Aging & Disability Resource Center of Eau Claire County, Greater Wisconsin Agency on Aging Resources, St. Francis Apartments, UCare and Bernicke & Associates Ltd., and planned by community representatives committed to the interests of older adults.
