Forensics team places high in Iowa and Illinois competitions

EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire forensics team is in full swing, having participated in two back-to-back weekends of competition in January.

The team traveled to the University of Northern Iowa to participate in the Iowa Swing competition Jan. 19-20. The team placed fourth in team sweepstakes Jan. 19 and third Jan. 20.

The following weekend team members traveled to Northern Illinois University, where they participated in the Mid-America Forensic League tournaments Nos. 5 and 6 Jan. 26-27. The team placed sixth in team sweepstakes at MAFL No. 5 and fifth at MAFL No. 6.

Individual results for Jan. 19 are as follows:

Junior Stephen Fong, Shorewood, placed sixth in extemporaneous speaking.

Freshman Elijah Freeman, Ladysmith, placed fourth in extemporaneous speaking.

Freshman Jake Wrasse, Durand, placed third in extemporaneous speaking and second in informative speaking.

Senior Megan McKeown, Eagan, Minn., placed fourth in persuasion, third in prose interpretation, third in dramatic interpretation and fifth in poetry interpretation.

Senior Megan Chilman, Le Sueur, Minn., placed third in program oral interpretation and fifth in informative speaking.

Freshman Sarah Doege, St. Charles, Ill., placed fourth in informative speaking.

Individual results for Jan. 20 are as follows:

Junior Stephen Fong, Shorewood, placed fifth in extemporaneous speaking, fourth in informative speaking and third in communication analysis.

Freshman Elijah Freeman, Ladysmith, placed fourth in extemporaneous speaking.

Freshman Heidi Feyereisen, Roberts, placed seventh in persuasion.

Freshman Jake Wrasse, Durand, placed third in persuasion.

Senior Megan McKeown, Eagan, Minn., placed second in persuasion.

Freshmen Alex Brown, St. Michael, Minn., and Heidi Feyereisen, Roberts, placed fourth in duo interpretation.

Individual results for Jan. 26 are as follows:

Junior Stephen Fong, Shorewood, place sixth in informative speaking.

Freshman Ben Thompson Isaac, Chaska, Minn., placed seventh in persuasion.Senior
