Wind Symphony, Symphony Band to perform March 10March 4, 2013

EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire music and theatre arts department will present a concert featuring the Wind Symphony and Symphony Band at 7:30 p.m. March 10 in Gantner Concert Hall of Haas Fine Arts Center.
The concert will feature Dr. Jeffery Crowell, associate professor of music, on percussion; and Dr. Melissa Koprowski, assistant professor of music, on clarinet.
The Wind Symphony, under the direction of Brian Diller, associate lecturer of music, will open the concert with a number of pieces, including "Corrida" by former music faculty member Dr. Ethan Wickman, "Gallito" by Santiago Lope Gonzalo and John Mackey's "Drum Music, Concerto for Percussion," featuring Crowell on percussion.
The Symphony Band, under the direction of Dr. Phillip Ostrander, associate professor of music, will perform works including "Dum Spiro Spero" by Chris Pilsner, "Through the Looking Glass" by Jess Turner and Concerto for Clarinet and Wind Band by Oscar Navarro, featuring Koprowski on clarinet.
Prior to the March 10 concert, the Symphony Band will be on tour in the Twin Cities and northern Wisconsin, and the Wind Symphony will present concerts in the Madison area.
The Wind Symphony and Symphony Band, dedicated to performance of the finest traditional and contemporary works for winds and percussion, are open to all university students by audition.
Concert tickets, available online and at the University Service Center, 715-836-3727 or 800-949-UWEC, are $6 for the public; $4 for those 62 and older, 17 and younger, and faculty and staff with a university ID; and $1.50 for students with a university ID.
