Day of Remembrance to honor deceased students, faculty and staffApril 19, 2013
EAU CLAIRE — Students, faculty and staff at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire are invited to attend a Day of Remembrance at noon April 30 to honor UW-Eau Claire students, faculty and staff who have passed away.
The event will take place on the second-floor terrace of Davies Center. In case of inclement weather, the event will be held in Schofield Auditorium.
It is intended that the Day of Remembrance will become an annual event, said Beth Hellwig, vice chancellor for student affairs.
"The start of this new tradition comes from a desire to bring the campus community together each year in the spring to remember all the Blugolds who came before us who have passed away," Hellwig said. "We want to create an occasion when we can celebrate their memories and honor the time they spent on our campus. We hope that this time will be spent in reflection, music and memories."
Those who have names of UW-Eau Claire students, faculty or staff who have passed away during the past year can forward those names to Julie Carr, Student Affairs, at email@example.com by April 24. Names submitted will be read aloud at the Day of Remembrance and included in the event program.
