University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire student James Halverson, a freshman from Oregon, is the recipient of the 2013 Classified Staff Scholarship.
Each year, classified staff members may nominate eligible students for the award. The recipient is then randomly selected from the pool of nominees. Students qualify for the award if they have a minimum GPA of 2.0 and are enrolled as full-time students. Freshmen qualify with no grade-point requirement.
Halverson was nominated for the $500 scholarship by Debbie Peterson, a recruitment coordinator in Career Services. Peterson said she nominated Halverson because he showed leadership and served as a role model for other student workers in Career Services.
