Student excellence awards presented to outstanding students

EAU CLAIRE — Student excellence awards were presented recently to outstanding students at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. The awards, sponsored by the Alumni Association, the Foundation and University Centers at UW-Eau Claire, call attention to the exceptional contributions students have made to the campus or greater community.

Recipients of the special category excellence awards each received a $250 scholarship through the Foundation, thanks to the generosity of many donors. Students who received Outstanding Graduate Student and Outstanding Undergraduate Student awards from each of the four colleges received a university medallion and a scholarship award.

The following students were honored:

  • Senior Jakob P. Broesch, Hales Corners, Excellence in Leadership.
  • Senior Jacqueline A. Lee, Becker, Minn., Excellence in Equity, Diversity and Inclusiveness.
  • Senior Bailey F. Boelter, Lakeville, Minn., Excellence in Global Awareness.
  • Senior Braden J. Krien, Lake Geneva, Excellence in Scholarly and Creative Activity.
  • Sophomore Sheila M. Frank, Eau Claire, Nontraditional Student Leadership Award.
  • Senior Kirsten M. Hauge, Minnetonka, Minn., Residence Hall Leadership Award.
  • Senior Gretchen M. Bachmeier, Eau Claire, LGBTQA Outstanding Student Leadership Award.
  • Senior Jacqueline A. Lee, Becker, Minn., Giraffe Leadership Award: Sticking One's Neck Out for Social Justice.
  • Senior Mark Quamme, Holmen, Andre and Joanne Gibault Blugold Spirit Award.

Also honored were:

  • Postbaccalaureate Jenny R. Leverson, Hewitt, Emerging Leader for the College of Nursing and Health Sciences.
  • Freshman Joshua R. Stringer, Eau Claire, Emerging Leader Award for the College of Education and Human Sciences.
  • Sophomore Quinn Forss, Schofield, Emerging Leader Award for the College of Arts and Sciences.
  • Senior Nicole A. Foyt, Eden Prairie, Minn., Emerging Leader Award for the College of Business.
  • Senior Lauren M. Natzke, Marathon, Outstanding Undergraduate Student for the College of Education and Human Sciences.
  • Senior Laurelyn E. Wieseman, Eau Claire, Outstanding Undergraduate Student for the College of Arts and Sciences.
  • Senior Abigail H. Buechner, Madison, Outstanding Undergraduate Student for the College of Nursing and Health Sciences.
  • Senior Joshua B. Mondor, New Richmond, Outstanding Undergraduate Student for the College of Business.
  • Pamela J. Vetter, Wausau, Outstanding Graduate Student for the College of Nursing and Health Sciences.
  • Susan T. Falch, Eau Claire, Outstanding Graduate Student for the College of Arts and Sciences.
  • Rebecca L. Lueck, Bloomer, Outstanding Graduate Student for the College of Education and Human Sciences.
  • Gregory T. Jagemann, Manitowoc, Outstanding Graduate Student for the College of Business.

Organizations honored were:

  • National Residence Hall Honorary was recognized with the Student Organization Award.
  • UW-Eau Claire Women's Volleyball Club as the New Student Organization Award.
  • J. Quincy Chapman, assistant director for leadership and education for housing and residence life and adviser to the Residence Hall Association and Peer Diversity Educators organizations, received the Student Organization Advisor Award.
