SUBJECT: Move-in days at UW-Eau Claire
The UW-Eau Claire campus becomes a whole lot busier today and tomorrow as 4,052 students move into university residence halls, area hotels and, for the first time, residential facilities at The Priory (the former St. Bede's Monastery purchased in 2011 by Blugold Real Estate, LLC, a subsidiary of the UW-Eau Claire Foundation Inc.).
A total of 3,864 students — including 1,866 new freshmen — will move into campus residence halls, 166 will move into area hotels and 20 will move into living quarters at The Priory. Freshmen, transfer students and Priory residents will move in today; returning students will move in Friday.
As happens each fall, current students volunteering as "Hall Raisers" will assist new students and their families with moving their items into their rooms, helping to make the process quicker and keeping the flow of traffic moving as vehicles loaded with student belongings arrive on campus at students' appointed move-in times.
CUBEFest (Creating the Ultimate Blugold Experience) begins in earnest on Friday, with activities to help new students acclimate to university life. As CUBEFest begins, all residence hall students are invited to a welcome picnic at 6 p.m. Friday on Simpson Field behind the McPhee Center/Ade Olson Addition on upper campus, followed by an opening welcome event in the Ade Olson Addition of the McPhee Center.
Members of the news media are welcome to cover student move-in and CUBEFest activities. Please contact the Office of Housing and Residence Life at 715-836-3674 for more information.
