UW-Eau Claire Student Senate to hold 'Momentum Monday' Oct. 7October 3, 2013
EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Student Senate will kick off the university's Homecoming week and unveil the newly adopted student mascot with Momentum Monday on Oct. 7.
From 7:30-10 a.m., the student mascot, Blu, along with several representatives of the Student Senate, will greet students at the bottom of the campus hill with
high-fives as they walk to class to get them excited about taking on the week. Student Senate members also will hand out free coffee donated by Starbucks.
Momentum Monday began with 2012 UW-Eau Claire alumnus Casey Driscoll, who was known for his efforts to promote Blugold spirit. In 2008 he received the Blugold Spirit Award for creating Momentum Monday. His good-humored work, which included high-fiving students while wearing a handmade, unofficial Blugold mascot suit, earned him the nickname Momentum Monday Man.
Following Homecoming, a weekly greeting by Student Senate members is expected to continue, with a focus on giving students the "momentum" they need to take on the week.
