FlagsEAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire is sponsoring the following events in appreciation and support of veterans:

  • Nov. 9 — Currently serving military members, veterans and their families will receive free admission to the UW-Eau Claire Blugolds vs. UW Oshkosh Titans football game at 2 p.m. in Carson Park. In addition to the game, a number of other activities are planned: a 50/50 raffle and caramel apple/bake sale to benefit the UW-Eau Claire Veterans Club and ROTC program; a color guard presentation by the UW-Eau Claire ROTC program; a static vehicle display by the Wisconsin National Guard; and a coin toss led by the Wounded Warrior UW-Eau Claire Veteran organization.

  • Nov. 11 — Veterans will be honored with an on-campus display of more than 5,000 American flags placed by members of the UW-Eau Claire Veterans Club and ROTC program. In addition, veteran awareness training for faculty and staff will be held from noon-12:50 p.m. in the Menominee Room (320F) of Davies Center. This informative session will include a presentation on the transition from the military to college; a question-and-answer session with a veteran student panel; and a resource brief and viewing of the student art project, "The Shrapnel Project." Participants will receive a "veteran safe space" placard to display to help spread awareness of veterans on campus.

  • Nov. 16 The Teddy Roosevelt Wild Game Feed and Silent Auction will be held from 5-10 p.m. at the American Legion Hall, Post 53, 634 Water St., Eau Claire. Faculty, staff, students and community members are invited to come celebrate the conservation, outdoor adventure and military service legacy of Teddy Roosevelt. Tickets, available at the door, are $5 for students and $7 for faculty, staff and community members. Proceeds will benefit the UW-Eau Claire Veterans Club, ROTC Club, Student Rod and Gun Club and Environmental Adventure Center.
