Registration opens for youth summer writing campFebruary 7, 2014
EAU CLAIRE — University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Continuing Education will offer Summer Writing Camp for aspiring writers in grades six through 10. The camp will be held from 9 a.m.-noon July 21-25 on the UW-Eau Claire campus.
Summer Writing Camp will explore storytelling in fiction, nonfiction and poetry. Students will create written and digital stories in genres and topics of their choice. Unique classes include digital stories using the latest technology, peer review and one-on-one mentoring. Students' best writing will be compiled and published in a camp chapbook.
Dr. Carey Applegate, UW-Eau Claire assistant professor of English, will lead the instructional team of faculty, teachers, community professionals and college students. The camp curriculum is aligned with Wisconsin's Common Core State Standards for Writing.
The early-bird fee is $169 per person before June 20, which includes 15 hours of instruction, materials and a copy of the camp chapbook. After June 20, the standard fee is $189 per person. Scholarships are available for qualifying students.
