Footbridge painting project to run through Aug. 21July 17, 2014
EAU CLAIRE — Pedestrians and bicyclists traveling across the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire footbridge in the coming weeks will need to watch out for wet paint.
Beginning this week or early next week, St. Paul, Minnesota, contractor TMI Coatings will clean rust from and repaint the metal railings along the university footbridge spanning the Chippewa River. The project is expected to be completed by Aug. 21.
Crews will work on the project from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday through Saturday during the approximately four-week period. The cleaning and painting work will be done along one side of the bridge at a time, with bridge access restricted to one lane in work zones. During the project, bicyclists are asked to walk their bikes on the bridge.
