Continuing Education program to address prescription opioid, heroin abuseAugust 26, 2014
EAU CLAIRE — University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Continuing Education will present "Understanding Prescription Opioids and Heroin Abuse" from 1-5 p.m. Oct. 22 at the Sacred Heart Hospital Community Auditorium in Eau Claire.
Designed for physicians, nurses, other health care workers, social workers, teachers and police officers, program topics will include prescription opioid use and abuse, the transition to heroin, the challenges that professionals face, and the latest legislative and policy initiatives.
The keynote presenter is Carol Falkowski, speaker, author and former director of the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Division of the Minnesota Department of Human Services. Invited speakers are Wisconsin state representative John Nygren and Wisconsin state attorney general J.B. Van Hollen.
Event sponsors are Sacred Heart Hospital, Arbor Place Inc., the Pain Clinic of Northwestern Wisconsin and Mayo Clinic Health System.
