Environmental Health Project Receives $10,000 Award
Dr. Crispin Pierce (Environmental Public Health) received a sub-award for $10,000 from the University of Iowa. The project is titled "Environmental Health Sciences Research Center." Project activities will include sample collection and community education regarding sand mining. Undergraduates will be involved in the research. Learn more about external grant opportunities.

Dr. Lisa Schiller Receives Wisconsin Department of Public Health Award 

Lisa Schiller (Nursing) received an award for $8,749 from the Wisconsin Department of Public Health. The project is titled "Partners in Health and Safety." The goal is to build cultural competence among nursing undergraduates, promote agricultural health and safety, and provide health screening and immunizations for farm workers in Buffalo and Pepin counties. Faculty Receive Petroleum Research Grants

Two faculty recently received awards from the American Chemical Society Petroleum Research Fund. Dr. Stephen Drucker (Chemistry) received an award for $70,000 from the Undergraduate Research program for his project, "Spectroscopic Studies of Acrolein in Its T1(n,pi3) Excited State." Dr. Liz Glogowski (Materials Science Center) received an award for $55,000 from Undergraduate New Investigator program for her project, "Designing 'Smart' Polymer Self-assembling Systems by Tuning Polymer Functionality and Architecture." Project on Undergraduate Research Receives Grant
Dr. Karen Havholm (Office of Research and Sponsored Programs) received an award for $30,320 from UW System's Growth Agenda-Conference and Professional Development Grants program. The project is titled "Broadening the Impact of Undergraduate Research on Student Success and Economic Development." The overall goal is to enable UW System-wide enhancement and expansion of undergraduate research and scholarly and creative activity.
