Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education
AASHE is one of three co-organizers for the American College & University Presidents' Climate Commitment, which Chancellor Levin-Stankevich signed in 2007. AASHE is also the first North American professional association for those working on campus sustainability issues. AASHE offers a good array of services and materials with their membership, and these are made available to all interested students, faculty and staff from member organizations— see the AASHE website to open your own account and access all the resources! You can also explore much of the site without opening an account, if you prefer to see what they offer first.
Presidents' Climate Commitment
The American College and University Presidents' Climate Commitment--PCC--reflects a decision by campus leaders and campus communities to take the initiative in reducing greenhouse gas emissions, lowering their campus carbon footprint. They view institutions of higher learning as leaders "in their communities and throughout society" who can contribute to the lives of future generations in tracking their carbon footprint and then "by modeling ways to eliminate global warming emissions, and . . . providing the knowledge and the educated graduates to achieve climate neutrality."
