Environmental Public Health

(ENPH is currently located in HSS 249.  The department
will be
moving to the 3rd floor of Hibbard in early June.)

The field of environmental health is composed of individuals whose vocational efforts are directed toward controlling environmental health hazards; preserving and improving environmental factors for the achievement of optimum health, safety, comfort and well-being. Environmental health professionals protect the lives of others, making sure that food is not contaminated or that the drinking water does not contain infectious organisms.

Various courses provide students with the educational background that is necessary for employment in regulatory agencies or industries concerned with environmental quality. The major includes both specialized courses in environmental public health, such as food and water sanitation, industrial hygiene, community health services, and related classes in the fields of biology, chemistry, physics, and mathematics.
