DIVISION OF STUDENT AFFAIRS
STRATEGIC GOAL 1: STUDENT ENGAGEMENT

       

Through intentional, impactful and innovative programs and services,
we will engage students and nurture student growth and success.

   

STRATEGIC PRIORITIES

          
  • Foster a University Centers-wide culture of innovative student programming.

  • Establish metrics used to measure the quality, effectiveness and expectations for student services.

  • Be committed to the promotion of professional relationships and open channels of communication among all students and professional staff and customers.

  • Involve students in the search and hiring process for all new employees.

  • Encourage students to provide feedback regarding vendor contracts including dining service, bookstore, banking, and others that directly impact the services we provide to every UW-Eau Claire student.

  • Advance University Centers operations by utilizing a transparent process that invites student input and participation.

STRATEGIC GOAL 2: HOLISTIC PERSONAL/INDIVIDUAL DEVELOPMENT

       

In support of the whole person in every aspect of his or her
college experience, we will provide programs and services
that support and enhance the mission of the university.

   

STRATEGIC PRIORITIES

          
  • Foster intellectual, professional and personal development for lifelong learning.

  • Encourage healthy living by incorporating nutritious, healthy concepts in dining areas.

  • Invest in student employees by fostering a comfortable work environment, extensive training and ongoing performance reviews to align with the university’s learning outcomes.

  • Continue to meet the high level of service that students and staff need from University Centers business and retail services including the University Bookstore, Printing Services and Event Services. These services give students the tools they need to succeed in and out of the classroom and aids in student retention.

  • Provide quality leadership development opportunities and ongoing trainings for all student leaders and student organizations.

STRATEGIC GOAL 3: INCLUSIVENESS/DIVERSITY

     

We will foster a respectful and inclusive community.
Programs and services will enhance student and staff learning
of inclusiveness and diversity through hands-on experiences,
service-learning and cross-cultural experiences.

       

STRATEGIC PRIORITIES

     
  • Continue to promote an inclusive and diverse student and staff employment environment.

  • Strive to expose students, staff and the community to insightful lectures and performances that expand knowledge and viewpoint beyond the borders of the Chippewa Valley.

  • Provide a non-partisan environment that fosters a growth in student values, decision-making skills, and an awareness of cultural, individual and institutional differences.

  • Collaborate with students, staff, and community members to support and enhance the thousands of events that take place on campus and throughout the community each year.

  • Strive to foster a welcoming atmosphere for everyone on campus who uses University Centers through the appreciation and desire to serve others.

STRATEGIC GOAL 4: NUTURE HUMAN RESOURCES

     

We will create the best possible place to work for our employees
in order to best serve our students.

  • Continue to provide a place for students, staff and community members to share talents, interests, and ideas in an action-learning setting.

  • Provide students with opportunities to learn career-related skills and gain leadership experience.

  • Assess professional development needs of University Centers staff and student employees by encouraging career enhancement by developing job responsibilities, goals and career aspirations.

  • Identify and implement goals to improve departments and enhance our inclusive work environment.

DIVISION OF STUDENT AFFAIRS

STRATEGIC GOAL 5: STEWARDSHIP/SUSTAINABILITY

     

We will explore and implement efforts to "green" our campus and
be the standard by which other UW System schools are measured.

        

STRATEGIC PRIORITIES

       
  • Manage and cultivate the widespread implementation of campus composting programs through campus and community partnerships.

  • Optimize technological advancements such as LED lighting for events, the use of rechargeable batteries, and HVAC control improvements.

  • Continue stewardship by community and campus partnerships by providing programming, services and expertise.

  • Enhance collaborative and complementary relationships with the greater community that enriches the quality of life for the residence of the Chippewa Valley through programming, services and volunteer outreach.

  • Provide easy-to-use recyclable materials and waste containers for our students and vendor partners to better optimize the amount recycling that stays out of the landfill.

STRATEGIC GOAL 6: FACILITIES ENHANCEMENT

        

We will commit to innovative and cost-effective short-term
facilities improvements while engaging in long-term planning
that supports and enhances the Campus Master Plan.

        

STRATEGIC PRIORITIES

       
  • Develop and maintain functional, efficient, and aesthetic spaces within University Centers to better serve the student population.

  • Continually evolve our facilities based on cultural, food service, learning, programming, and technological trends expectations.

  • Evaluate the functionality of our facilities based on the diversity of students, staff and community members who utilize University Centers.

  • Provide exceptional multipurpose facilities that meet the needs of students, campus departments, and community members.

  • Maintain clean and sanitary environment in the University Centers facilities that serve our extensive food service and retail operations as well as the academic spaces that have been put under our stewardship.

  • Continually reevaluate and work with the Campus Master Plan to develop renovation and construction projects in our facilities that enhance our ability to meet the service, spatial, equipment and technology needs of our campus.
